Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Orbit collects, why it is collected, and the choices you have when using the app.

Overview

Orbit is a social app for Happenings, clubs, and friends. We collect information needed to run those features, keep the app safe, and provide support. We do not sell your personal information.

Some information you add to Orbit is visible to other users, such as your display name, username, avatar, public club details, and public Happening details.

Information We Collect

Account and profile information

We collect the information needed to create and verify an account, including authentication details such as your display name, username, avatar, and date of birth. Date of birth is used to confirm age eligibility and display age where the app needs it.

Content and social activity

We collect information you create or interact with in Orbit, including Happenings, clubs, club membership and join requests, friend requests, attendance, reports, moderation actions, and related timestamps. If messaging features are available, the messages you send are stored so they can be delivered and shown in the app.

Location information

Orbit uses device location, with your permission, to determine your city and show nearby Happenings and clubs. Your current latitude, longitude, and city key may be cached on your device for faster loading. When you create a Happening or club, the place you select, including its latitude and longitude, is stored with that Happening or club so other users can discover and navigate to it.

Camera access

Orbit uses the camera when you choose to scan a friend's QR code. Camera access is used for scanning and is not used to store photos or videos.

Support requests

If you contact support, we collect the information you submit, such as your name, email address, topic, and message. Do not include passwords, payment details, or other sensitive information in support messages.

How We Use Information

  • Provide accounts, profiles, Happenings, clubs, friend features, and QR scans.
  • Show nearby content based on your city and selected locations.
  • Moderate content, investigate reports, enforce limits, and reduce abuse.
  • Maintain app security, debug issues, and improve reliability.
  • Respond to support requests and account questions.

Service Providers

Orbit relies on service providers to operate the app. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to Orbit.

  • Supabase provides authentication, database, file storage, and backend services.
  • BigDataCloud may receive coordinates to convert device location into a city.
  • Nominatim and OpenStreetMap related services may receive location search queries and approximate search areas when you search for places.
  • OpenFreeMap provides map style resources used by app map views.
  • Google Maps may open when you choose to view a place in maps.

Sharing

We share information when you choose to make it part of the app experience, such as public profile information, Happenings, clubs, attendance counts, and club memberships. We may also share information with service providers to protect safety, prevent abuse, or enforce app rules.

Your Choices

  • You can update your profile information in the app.
  • You can deny or revoke location and camera permissions in device settings.
  • You can delete Happenings or clubs you control, subject to app rules.
  • You can delete your account in the app. Account deletion removes your profile, friendships, clubs, Happenings, and avatar uploads from active systems where supported by the app.
  • You can contact support for privacy or account questions.

Retention

We keep information for as long as a user has an account. Users can delete their accounts, along with all of their information, in the app.

Age Eligibility

Orbit is intended for users who are at least 13 years old. Date of birth is used to verify that an account meets this requirement.

Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes

We may update this policy as Orbit changes. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.

Contact

For privacy questions or account requests, contact Orbit through the support page.
